21 June 2021 – The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) is the Government agency that enforces the Tourism Industry Act 1992 [Act 482] and Regulations. In this regard, to assist tourism industry players affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, the Ministry has considered providing:
- 40% discount on compound payments to all licensed tourism businesses and licensed tour guides who are compounded by MOTAC until 31 December 2021 when payment is submitted;
- Extension of the compound payment period until 31 December 2021 for all compounds issued by MOTAC to licensed tourism businesses or licensed tour guides;
- Exemption from compounding for tourism businesses and tour guides who fail to renew their licenses within the specified period due to the Movement Control Order (MCO)/Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO)/Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) with the condition that a complete application must be submitted within 60 days after the expiry of the MCO/CMCO/EMCO period; and
- Issuance of a tour operator company license without a premises inspection during the Movement Control Order (MCO)/ Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO)/ Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO). However, the premises inspection will be carried out within 90 days after the company license is printed and issued by the State MOTAC.
