Application for Operating Permits for the Hospitality Sector for the Purpose of Quarantine, Isolation and Service Employment is Allowed Throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO) Period via the CIMS 3.0 Portal

5 June 2021 – The National Security Council (MKN) Meeting on 4 June 2021 has decided that letters of permission to operate for hotel accommodation for the purpose of quarantine, isolation, employment for essential services during the MCO period starting from 6 to 14 June 2021 must be applied for through the COVID-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS) 3.0 portal developed by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). All applications related to the hospitality sector for the purposes as stated will be processed and approved by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) through the CIMS 3.0 platform. Each application must also submit a copy of the latest SSM and a valid accommodation premises business license from the PBT.

Movement permission letters issued by MOTAC were previously only valid until 5 June 2021 (Saturday) before 12.00 midnight. After that, starting 6 June 2021 (Sunday), all movement permissions will use permission letters from MITI only.

Therefore, all relevant hotel operators need to re-register and can immediately download the operating permission letter via the notification.miti.gov.my link.

With this latest development, the movement of workers for the hospitality sector is only permitted using:

  1. CIMS 3.0 letter; and
  2. Letter of confirmation of appointment from employer OR employee pass.
