People’s Protection and Economic Recovery Package (PEMULIH) Gives Light to the Tourism Sector
  1. Extension of the 10% electricity bill discount for the months of October to December 2021 to hotel operators, theme parks, convention centres, shopping malls, local tourism company offices and travel and tourism agencies;
  2. Providing one-off assistance of RM3,000 to more than 5,300 travel agencies registered with MOTAC;
  3. Deferral of monthly income tax installment payments to companies and exemption of tourism tax and service tax to hotel operators until the end of this year;
  4. Continuing the Shop Malaysia Online and GoeCommerce Onboarding campaigns targeting more than 300 thousand micro-traders such as bazaar traders, farmers’ markets, night markets and stalls as well as handicraft entrepreneurs to switch to online businesses and use the e-cash system;
  5. An allocation of RM100 million in the form of financing facilities and financial assistance support for the production of digital works and content, career opportunities, skills development programmes, protection contributions under SOCSO as well as the acquisition of products for the purpose of production on television, radio and song creation, involving more than 8,000 artists;
  6. Providing a Wage Subsidy Program of RM600 to 500 employees per employer for a period of four months, namely two months for all sectors in the second phase of the National Recovery Plan (PPN) and the next two months specifically for sectors categorized in the negative list during the third phase, where there are no longer any salary limit conditions set; and
  7. A six-month moratorium will be granted to all individual borrowers, whether from the B40, M40 or T20 groups, and micro-entrepreneurs.
