The year 2014 has been designated as "Visit Malaysia Year (VMY)" during which we aspire to bring in 28 million tourists to the country.

Promoting Malaysia as a tourist destination is a national mission, as reiterated by YAB The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak during the launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2014 Promotional Campaign in the month of January. The hosting of VMY 2014 as well as the designating of 2013 as a preparatory year is timely as a means to boost tourist arrivals.

The highlight of the Parade is the "Mega Endang Citrawarna", which will be presented by all performers that are taking part in the event. The finale would be a VMY-themed performance and the "Joget Lambak". About 200 Porsche cars will also be driven during the Shopping segment.

The event starts as early as 5.00 pm on the 25 May 2013 with a pre-show. Local artists who will be performing include Ella, Jimmy Palikat, Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim and more.

For those who are interested to register for the Ministry's initiative called 1Voluntourism, a booth will be set up from 2.00 pm until 8.00 pm at Dataran Merdeka. There will also be a 1Malaysia Food Court for those who want to get a taste of local Malaysian cuisine.

The 1.5 km parade will start at Jalan Raja and head towards Jalan Raja Laut, moving along through Jalan Isfahan and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman before heading back to Jalan Raja and ending at Dataran Merdeka.

About Colours of 1Malaysia
The Colours of 1Malaysia is a collection of street performances that was first launched in 1999 by the Ministry of Tourism to highlight Malaysia's tourist attractions as well as to showcase Malaysia's cultural heritage through music, song and dance.

The annual event was first held at Dataran Merdeka with cultural performances from each state. In 2004, the event moved to the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, maintaining the original Street Performance theme.

The 2005 edition was held at Stadium Merdeka while the 2006 edition at Dataran Merdeka. In 2007, it was held at Putrajaya Boulevard before returning to its original venue, Dataran Merdeka in 2009.

In 2010, a Mega Dikir Barat performance by 5,500 participants was given the recognition by the Malaysia Book of Records for the largest number of participants in a show.
