Singapore and Malaysia Celebrate Shared Heritage at the Triennial Cultural Showcase 2025

JOHOR BAHRU, 8 November 2025 - The Triennial Cultural Showcase (TCS), a flagship cultural exchange between Singapore and Malaysia, continues to strengthen bilateral ties through the celebration of shared heritage and creative collaboration. Alternating between both countries every three years, the showcase serves as a vibrant platform for performances, exhibitions and artistic partnerships that foster deeper people-to-people connections.

This year, Singapore presents TCS 2025 at Permaisuri Zarith Sofiah Opera House, Johor Bahru, featuring a collaborative cultural performance and a heritage showcase that bring together artists, craftsmen, and creatives from both nations. The event highlights the dynamic synergy between Singaporean and Malaysian talents while promoting greater mutual understanding and appreciation of each other’s cultural richness.

Adding to the significance of this year’s showcase, TCS 2025 coincides with the celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Malaysia, marking six decades of friendship, cooperation and shared aspirations.

TCS 2025 features two core segments that reflect the creativity and collaboration between the two nations: “Bridges in Motion” combines short dance films with live music and performances, featuring Malaysian dancers performing in Singapore and Singaporean dancers performing in Malaysia, symbolising cultural exchange through a fusion of traditional and modern arts. Meanwhile, “Made from Memory” brings together practitioners from both nations who reinterpret traditional heritage through contemporary expressions, reflecting how shared memories and traditions continue to evolve while preserving their cultural essence.

The event is graced by the presence of Mr. David Neo, Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth of Singapore; YB Datuk Khairul Firdaus bin Akbar Khan, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia; and YB Lee Ting Han, Member of the Johor State Executive Council (EXCO) representing the Johor State Government. Their attendance underscores the strong commitment of both nations to advancing cultural diplomacy and regional cooperation through the arts, as well as the shared aspiration to further strengthen Malaysia–Singapore cultural relations.

In line with the Malaysia MADANI vision, this collaboration reflects a collective commitment to fostering unity, mutual respect and shared prosperity through culture and creativity values that lie at the heart of regional harmony and sustainable development.
