The joint initiative recognises Zapin as a shared living heritage that reflects the deep cultural connections and enduring bonds of maritime Southeast Asia. Through community participation, cultural practitioners, education, research and regional cooperation, the nomination seeks to safeguard and transmit the diverse expressions of Zapin to future generations.
